The new series for Re-Creating You will be on meditation — probably the one thing in metaphysical work that gives people the most difficulties.
It is important to realize that there is no right and wrong way to meditate. Whatever works for you is what is exactly right for you. Many people are not able to sit quietly and wait for messages and information. That's O.K. For many, and I'm one of them, the most powerful messages I receive come when my hands are busy with something, but my mind is at rest. Some people call this "moving meditation", and I've learned that it only takes an instant, a flash, and you have suddenly gained new insight and information.
The secret here is to learn to still the mind. If you have not yet done the exercise called Focus, I would urge you to start that. If you did it for awhile, but have wandered away from it, it will be very helpful to get started again. This is a very simple and painless way to learn to quiet the chatter in your head —- and it works.
You'll be surprised to learn how many different types and techniques there are for meditation, how ancient the practice is, and that it is practiced by every culture around the world. If you learn nothing more, please take this to heart. If it works for you, then it's right for you. Nothing else matters.
