Exercise 3: Identifying Our Fears

On a separate sheet of paper (not in your journal) make a very careful list of everything you fear. There is no such thing as a "silly" fear. I don't care what you've been told in the past, there is no foolish fear. Go back as far in your memory as you can, and write down every single fear and why you fear it. Afraid of spiders? Why? Afraid of being alone in the dark? Why? Be as complete and as honest as you can possibly be. When you're finished, read over your list. Examine your fears carefully. Examine the reasons for those fears carefully. Then take the list, tear it into very small pieces, take it to a safe place and burn it with incense or sage or whatever you use in ceremony. As you watch the smoke rise, ask the Universe to take these fears out of your spirit, and transform them into a positive force that can be of benefit to others.

Give this exercise very careful thought. During the coming week, if you remember more fears, or if you're willing to delve more deeply into your true emotions, repeat the exercise. Do this until every fear that surfaces has been dealt with on paper and given to the Universe in fire and smoke. You have taken the first step in recognizing the fears in your life, where they came from, and in exercising control over them. Blessings to you.
