The recent elections held in the United States once again brought to light
the new standards being imposed by this society upon all those who wish
to enter public office at any level. Are these standards impossible to
meet? Is there anyone who has reached the level of perfection now being
demanded? Are people being denied their right to be human? I am not referring
here to crime, corruption, greed, avarice, double-dealing and deliberate
wrong doing. I am referring to the imperfect state of just living as a
human being. Do you believe that those who are creating these standards
could meet them, or do we have still another example of "do as I say, not
as I do"?
If this trend continues at its present rate, here's what the elected officials of the future will have to look forward to:
A human man, dirt poor, with a manic-depressive disorder, prolonged
episodes of debilitating, black depression, with a wife suffering from
mental illness and a son with his own mental and physical disabilities,
would never even consider entering his name for nomination for president.
He wouldn't dare......and the U.S. would never have had Abraham Lincoln
as a leader.
